What does Nourishment  Really  Mean?

(Recipe for Organic Vanilla, Almond Blueberry Protein Bars below!)

ˈnəriSHmənt/ noun

The food or other substances necessary for growth, health, and good condition.

Everyday we make choices about the food we put into our bodies. We relentlessly count calories… we count carbs… we count and fats and proteins… we make ourselves feel better, or feel worse, depending on the quality of the food we choose to fuel our daily lives. But food isn’t the only way that we nourish ourselves to sustain growth, health and good condition.”

Humans also receive nourishment through meaningful relationships. It’s proven that humans are healthier when they have positive relationships in their lives. In the same way we scrutinize the foods we let enter our body, we should also scrutinize the relationships we let into our lives!

We must surround ourselves with good people – people that bring out the best in us, who accept us for who we are, who challenge our viewpoints and always want us to grow, people who love and value all parts of us, including our mistakes, people that make us feel better by being with them.

Nourishment begins from within, which is why it is important to fill our bodies with high-quality ingredients. We are constantly faced with the pressures of society to eat, look or act a certain way – but what we should really focus on is how we feel.  No one is perfect – but we can all strive to find our own, personal balance – the balance that is right for us. Every body is different, and listening to yourself is key when making food choices, and personal ones.

One of the best ways to ensure we have good emotional nourishment is to seek-out people who make us feel stronger and spend less time with people who drain us, energetically. RIGHT NOW is the time to WALK AWAY from relationships that no longer positively serve you. If you need guidance with this reach out to Evolve Human Movement. One of the ways we can make sure we get good physical nourishment is to have good food readily available. By keeping healthy snacks on hand, we will more likely reach for a healthy snack when hunger strikes. Below is a super-easy recipe for Organic Vanilla Almond and Blueberry Protein Bars! Melissa Wertz of Love Peace and Veggies put together this Organic, Super delicious and super healthy recipe!

Ingredients (all organic):

  • 2 cups gluten free oats
  • ½ cup millet flour (can substitute for spelt or coconut flour)
  • ¼ cup honey (local is best!)
  • ¼ cup shredded, raw almonds
  • 2 cups frozen blueberries
  • ½ cup applesauce
  • 2 scoops vanilla protein powder (your choice based upon your diet, plant-based, whey, etc)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients (except the blueberries) in a mixing bowl. Place frozen blueberries in a separate bowl and heat in the microwave for approximately two minutes. Add the bowl of defrosted blueberries (with the liquid from defrosting) into the dry mixture and stir together.

Lightly oil a cake pan with coconut oil/spray and place the protein bar mixture in the pan, spreading evenly.

Bake for 18 minutes, let cool and then cut into gooey, chewy squares. YUM!

Time to grab some good people and go eat some good food!

Positive and uplifting article, but the title is wholly misleading..

I thought the writer was going to delve into and explain the many differences between today’s most popular health trends, and offer recommendation for the best ones.
